Indication: hormone replacement therapy for men for hypogonadism


Usual Dosing:

Oral: twice daily with food to help with absorption

Pump: morning

Patch: night

Injection: every 2 weeks


Adverse Effects:

-fluid retention (heart failure)

-polycythemia (increased clot risk)

-acne

-increased libido

-increased prostate size

-cardiovascular risk (lipids, blood pressure)

-gynecomastia

-infertility

-mood swings

-side effects are more common with injectable forms due to spike effect

-topical irritation with gels and patches
